The folding of apomyoglobin
Experimental results indicate that formation of secondary
preceeds tertiary structure by nearly three orders of magnitude in
time. The energy surface of apomyoglobin appears to have a sizable
energy trap that leads
to formation of the
AGH core that remains
throughout the rest of the
folding pathway, perhaps
serving as a template.
